Elonce Peterson 2010, President Peterson Trap Co., LLC.
Elonce Peterson started in the Almond and Pistachio industry in 2006 while working for
Integral Ag., Inc, an independent consulting company under the guidance of entomologist
and PCA, Dr. Justin E. Nay.
As a field scout, Elonce inspected many NOW eggs traps and gained extensive knowledge
and experience concerning the biology of Navel Orangeworm, as well as other pests. Using
this knowledge, Elonce explored the idea of mass trapping NOW females.
In 2008, after a year of trap and bait design, Elonce Peterson and Dr. Nay started the first
mass trapping of almonds in Kern County. At this time, Dr. Nay also transitioned to using
Peterson NOW traps for monitoring in place of the standard egg trap. After two years of
experimental mass trapping, Elonce formed his own company, Peterson Trap Company, LLC.
Since then, research collaborations have continued with Dr. Nay of Integral Ag., Inc. and
Dr. E. A. Boyd of CSU Chico. In total, Peterson Trap Co. has serviced over 40,000 acres
(more than 300 blocks) in Butte, Colusa, Fresno, Glenn, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced,
Stanislaus, Tulare, and Yuba counties.
